However, Waitrose still ranks first in a recent survey by Market Force Information on customer opinions of seven supermarket chains. The survey included 4,300 consumers who rated supermarkets on assortment layout, cleanliness, and appearance.

Waitrose has taken several measures to protect customers as well as staff during the coronavirus outbreak. Customers are asked to send only one person shopping and wear a mask or scarf. Hand sanitisers are located in the front of every shop. Waitrose is also offering the Volunteer's Shopping Card for shoppers who have self-isolation which allows family and friends to collect their orders on their behalf.
